the newest member of the family
We just adopted me a new brother this morning. How cute is he?
Dear UW, I (mostly) hate you in the winter time
Ahh, the University of Wyoming. The place where I spent all my formative years, did a lot of stupid things, and will be leaving for good all too soon. This place and I have a love/hate relationship, but today I’m going to focus on the hate part, because I’m feeling particularly moody. I know those fellow Laramie residents can all relate—sometimes it seems like UW (faculty,...
lovely light snow
It’s beautiful outside my apartment right now! And perfectly still—rare for Laramie!
alley art
Saw this on my walk to class the other morning. Took a shortcut down an alley and saw these on the back of someone’s garage. Curious, no?

kids say the darndest things #2
My little (Big Brothers Big Sisters) upon finding out the Earth had wobbled and she was no longer a Sagittarius:
“I read that Capricorns get mad easily; but that’s not true. I’m a free spirit!”
Of course you are, dear. You’re SEVEN.

Today I was thinking—I really like keeping up with this blog, but I often think that my life isn’t exciting enough for me to blog about. Are these things I’ll want to remember? Does anybody want to hear about this stuff? I’ve spoken with a lot of friends about this, and it seems to be a common thing. Although nonchalantly “starting a blog” seems simple and...

The 5 Worst Things About Graduate School...
We’re all probably going to have to do it—after we painstakingly finish the first four years of higher education, for some reason we think it’s a good idea to succumb to even more school and even more debt. I’m embarking on this lovely, enjoyable (insert sarcasm here) journey as we speak, and I’ve noticed some particular charming things about the whole process.

The 5 Worst People on Campus
You know who I’m talking about—there are those certain people on campus that you just want to trip on their way by to teach them a lesson. Here’s my abridged list:
The Biker. Now I know Laramie is cold and we all want to get to class quickly, but is it necessary for me to have literally five near hit-and-runs a day as I meander across campus? I think not. You may be bigger...
Answer: panic and scowl
Question: What do you do when you’re at work, happily surfing the internet, and you reach down to take a sip out of (what you thought was) your delicious cup of coffee, only to discover, two seconds too late, that this was in fact not your cofee but of unknown origin?

Italia, revisited
I was cleaning off my computer and found these pictures from Italy I took a few years ago over the summer. I want to go back so badly!
It’s just magical there.
new year, new you
What’s in a new year’s resolution? Is it a way to really hold yourself accountable and get things done, or is it simply a early January trend that we all forget about in a few short days? Unfortunately, I have been of the latter camp far too often, thinking of generic goals in my little brain that don’t really mean much. You know, the usual “do more cardio” and...
Yesterday was a hard day because it was the day we had to bury our dear old friend Andrew. He was only 24. I wanted to share one thing that stuck with me from the day. At the reception after the funeral, our friend Colby spoke about Andrew, making us all smile as he talked of fond memories of him and how much he had meant to all of us. He did a beautiful job. He told us about how when they...
